Gabe Quinto for El Cerrito City Council

I graduated from El Cerrito High in 1979 and have lived in the same El Cerrito neighborhood since 2001. I have proudly served on the City Council for the past twelve years, and am honored to be currently serving my third term as Mayor. Even before running for elective office, I chaired El Cerrito’s Human Relations Commission, where I worked to support our local arts and culture.

For over a decade, I have helped bring this city's budget back to steady ground, and we stabilized the general fund by making bold decisions and following through on a plan that required collaboration and consensus building. Sound finances are what lets a city build housing, staff its emergency services, and keep our cherished public spaces open and thriving.

There is much work left to do, and I am asking for another term to get it done: pay down our unfunded liabilities before they land on younger residents, build housing at every income level, and fill San Pablo Avenue and El Cerrito Plaza with businesses where people can earn a living.
